Certified Senior Home Safety SpecialistAfter two decades working alongside seniors and the families caring for them, I kept seeing the same thing: people waiting too long to make changes to their home — usually after a fall, a hospitalization, or a crisis that could have been prevented.
I started ClearStep Home Safety because I believe the conversation about home safety should happen before something goes wrong, not after. A well-placed grab bar, a stairlift, a walk-in shower — these aren't signs that someone is declining. They're investments in staying home longer, on your own terms.
I'm a Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist (SHSS) through Age Safe America. Every evaluation I do is free, every recommendation is written down, and there's never pressure to do more than what's actually needed. I work throughout Grand Rapids and West Michigan, and I take the time to get it right.

How I work
The evaluation is free and the report is yours to keep — whether you hire me or not. I'm not going to push you toward modifications you don't need.
I'll tell you what I see, what it means, and what I'd recommend — in plain English. The written report is organized by risk level so you know what to prioritize.
I talk to the person who lives in the home, not just the adult child who called me. Dignity and independence matter. The goal is to support both.
A free evaluation is the best way to figure out what your home actually needs. I'll walk through every room, take the time to listen, and give you an honest written assessment.
